David Fantin - Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach David Fantin has more than 50 years combined experience as a player, coach and league commissioner. He enters his fifth year with TP Baseball. Coach Fantin traveled to Ireland for a third summer to coach the 18U Junior and Senior Irish National Teams. He also runs coach and youth clinics while in Ireland. He plans to take a San Diego based team to play against Ireland’s best players next summer.
In years prior, Coach Fantin coached all three levels of H.S. Baseball, H.S. showcase, club, little league and also men’s league teams comprised of former college and pro players. He continues to play hardball in a local men’s league.
David played semi-pro ball in Ukraine, games and tournaments on five of seven continents and a dozen countries, notably Cuba on five trips. He also umpired the Youth National Playoff Games of Ukraine.
Coach Fantin breathes baseball. He feels that winning is the result, not the focus, and is the outcome of hard work, teamwork, grit and passion. He is retired from a 38 year career in commercial real estate. Coach has been married 25 years to his amazing wife Robin; they have two children, both graduates of Torrey Pines. Garrett (a former pitcher at a previous high school) is a senior at USC and Ariana, a former 4 year member of the TP varsity hip-hop team, is a Freshman at the University of Washington.

Roger Packard Jr. - Assistant Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Roger Packard Jr is entering his 5th year at Torrey Pines with a record of 73 wins vs 39 losses (.652). Coach Pack grew up in the Los Angeles area in a very competitive baseball environment, with the following accolades: 1989/1990 Ocean League Champions at Culver City High School, 1st team All Ocean League selection as a First Baseman, 1990 Varsity Team Home Run Award, and 1990 C.I.F. vs CITY All Star game selection at First Base.
In 1991/1992 he attempted to play college baseball at El Camino College and Grossmont College, but a recurring arm injury ended those dreams.
At the age of 52 y/o Coach Pack still actively plays in men's leagues and tournaments. His teams have garnered many N.A.B.A. / M.S.B.L. trophies, rings and titles. Coach Pack will once again Assist Coach Fantin at the Junior Varsity level.
