The All-Academic Team honors juniors and seniors who participated in a California Interscholastic Federation-approved varsity sport and maintained a cumulative, weighted grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Marks above 4.0 reflect grades from honors classes weighted on a 5.0 scale. Some school districts make more 5.0 classes available than others.
The Union-Tribune and the county Office of Education invited all San Diego Section schools to participate. The names and GPAs printed here were taken from information provided by the schools.

Defensive Player of The Year - The Defensive Player of The Year goes to a young man who was a defensive stalwart. Typically it's hard to measure how a player adds to a team's success defensively. Offensive numbers are easy to track and breakdown. Defensive numbers don't always tell the whole story because of variables like range and arm strength. We were fortunate to a have a player in our lineup who was completely reliable. As every baseball man will tell you, you need to be able to count on the players "up the middle" to make all the basic defensive plays. This player had 32 starts in centerfield. A baseball team needs consistency on defense, and we were fortunate to have a fiesty competitor who had a terrific defensive year,....Sandy Plashkes.

Pitcher Of The Year - This gritty competitor appeared in 14 games, while starting 9 games. While compiling an 8-1 record, he threw 7 complete games and finished the season with a sterling 1.89 ERA. In 59 1/3 innings, he walked only 9 batters while striking out 31. Crafty, intelligent and intuitive he started the year as our closer, and moved into the rotation after an injury to a starter. His ability to disrupt the hitters timing was impressive...while he threw a fastball, curveball and changeup this doesn't tell the whole story. He throws these three pitches but varies his delivery...slide step change, high leg kick change, high leg kick BP fastball, curve, slide step heater, high leg kick max velo, etc, etc. I am proud to award Chase Cameron as the Pitcher of the Year.
Falcon Award Winners - This year we honor two individuals with the Falcon Award. These 2 Falcons are consumate teammates. They embody everything we are looking for in our program….our motto is Proud, Selfless, Tough, and I couldn't ask for better examples of these character traits. There is so much responsibility that goes with being a high school athlete these days. Not only do they committ to their schoolwork, and their families, they committ to making everyday on the field and in the clubhouse better for all of us. When the Navy Seals spoke with us earlier in the year, they talked about the #2 position while carrying the raft, and how it was the most difficult spot, and how they knew they had a good teammate when someone would volunteer for that spot. These 2 volunteer for it daily. Kind and selfless, they never complain about the responsibilities that go with Varsity baseball. Please congratulate Logan Tomlinson and Jake Singer.

Most Valuable Player - This player is the clear choice for the Most Valuable Player Award for 2015. He was recently honored with the Palomar Conference Pitcher of the Year award, but that only tells half the story. He led the team in plate appearances, AB's,hits, 2B's, total bases,HBP, was second in Runs, HR's, RBI, stolen bases. On the mound he finished with a 6-4 record while starting 11 games. He completed 8 games and in 67IP allowed only 49 hits while walking only 11 and striking out 57. He will attend USC next year to continue his playing career. Please welcome the heartbeat of Falcon Varsity baseball, the 2014 and now the 2015 Falcon Most Valuable Player...CJ Stubbs

Freshman and JV baseball players along with other student athletes were present at Fox Sports Studios at Petco Park to accept a check for $4,920 on behalf of TPHS. Through their Support Our Schools fundraising program, Mission Federal Credit Union donated $20 for every ticket sold to the local Farmers Open Golf tournament. The baseball team raised half of the money donated to TPHS. The boys enjoyed watching the Padres defeat the Cubs 4-3 despite three solo home runs by Chicago.
