
TOMMY SIMIS - HEAD VARSITY COACH
Tommy Simis was born and raised in San Diego. Attended Poway High School where he was a 3-year Varsity Baseball player and was a part of the 2006 and 2008 Div 1 CIF Championship teams.
After graduating in 2008, he earned a scholarship to Cal State University Northridge to continue his career in baseball. As a Freshman, Tommy started 25 games as an infielder before suffering a devastating back injury. After missing his entire Sophomore season recovering from 2 spinal fractures, he started his following 3 seasons as a Captain of the team. After deciding to hang up his cleats due to nagging back problems, he finalized his college career with a Bachelor Degree in Urban Development with a Minor in Communications.
After recovering from a spinal fusion in 2014, Tommy immediately began his coaching career with various travel baseball teams in San Diego before landing a High School Varsity position as the infield coach for Poway High School from 2017-2019. Tommy currently works for PBS Construction, flipping and renovating apartments, condos and homes. He enjoys playing golf and basketball in his free time as well as watching sports. He currently lives in Carmel Mountain Ranch and is the current Head Coach of the Torrey Pines Baseball Program.

DAVID FANTIN - HEAD JUNIOR VARSITY COACH
Coach David Fantin has more than 50 years combined experience as a player, coach, manager and league commissioner. He enters his third year with TP Baseball. David works closely with our Head Coach Tommy Simis across all three levels of the program - coaching, administrative back-office and year round field maintenance. In years prior, Coach Fantin coached Varsity, JV, Freshmen, H.S. Showcase, club, select, little league and also men’s league teams comprised of former college and pro players. He still plays hardball in a local men’s league. He is also a coach with So Cal Redbirds Baseball Club. David played semi-pro ball in Ukraine, games and tournaments on five of seven continents, a dozen countries, notably Cuba on five trips. He also umpired the youth national playoff games of Ukraine. David was honored as Hometown Hero by the Houston Astros for his philanthropic work as founder of Global Sports Foundation, and threw the first pitch at Houston Astros game (for a strike). This summer, Coach Fantin travels to Europe as a volunteer coach, teaching our pastime to developing players and organizing coaches clinics. Coach Fantin breathes baseball. He feels that winning is the result, not the focus, and is the outcome of hard work, teamwork, grit and passion. He is mostly retired from a career in commercial real estate and now mostly full-time in baseball. He is married to Robin for 23 years and they have two children, Garrett a graduate of TPHS who now attends USC and Ariana, a junior at TP and a member of the varsity hip-hop team.

Coach Roger Packard Jr comes from Culver City Ca. where he grew up in a very competitive baseball program. His teams garnered the following titles growing up. 1986 W.L.A. District Champs,1987 California State Champs in Arroyo Grande, CA.1988 SoCal. Champs and Regional participants in Oahu,Hawaii,1989-1990 C.C.H.S. Varsity team Ocean League Champs,1990 Westside Tournament Finalists. He was also a 1990 1st Team All Ocean League selection at First Base and a 1990 C.I.F vs. CITY All Star Game selection at First Base. He tried his hand at playing college ball at both El Camino College in 1991 and Grossmont College in 1992. A Olecranon Stress Fracture in his throwing elbow ended his college playing career.
He has been involved in Adult Baseball Programs as a Player/Coach for many years.
He has collected countless league titles and most recently won the 2020 NABA National Championship ring event.

MATT LIVINGSTON - HEAD FRESHMAN COACH / SCOTT ASHBY - ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH
Matt Livingston grew up in San Diego and played baseball for the Torrey Pines HS Falcons for 4 years. He graduated in 1988 and was recognized as an All-Palomar League infielder. He graduated with a BS in Zoology from Brigham Young University, and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of San Diego. Matt has coached baseball at TPHS since 2000, as both a head coach and an assistant coach at all three levels, varsity, jv and frosh. He also served as the school's Boys Athletic Director from 2014-2016, helping the school achieve the award of "California State Athletic School of the Year". Matt was also the ASB Activities Director at TPHS from 2016-2020. Matt has also coached football and girls basketball at TP. He has been employed full time as a science teacher in the San Dieguito district since 1996 and at TPHS since 2002. Matt was named "Teacher of the Year" in 2010. Matt lives in Oceanside with his wife and 5 children.
